Book One is an album of both lighthearted and darker medieval moods. Deeply ingrained with the musical conventions of dungeon synth, but instantly recognisable by consisting entirely of the artist performing his own melodic compositions on different flutes and other woodwind instruments.

Kenosis is the work of a Greece musicology scholar with training in woodwind instruments going back to his childhood and an interest in darker heavier music genres. In orthodoxy, kenosis is the act of self-emptying, and as the artist explains: "Kenosis requires me to empty myself and really hear the wind instruments and their character in order to let them speak."

Book One is an enhanced version of artist's own digital release called "Flutes of the Dungeon (Book 1)" with improved sound, one track not initially featured on the demo version, and another track currently only available on this version.
