The trail continues through the Nest discography with it's most dramatic entry, ebbing and flowing between melodic melancholy soundscapes and compelling progressive build-ups with enigmatic vocals and distant doomy guitars. It was conceived and recorded in 2003-2006 and involved five participants along the way including the vocalist of Agalloch.

This release brings 'Trail Of The Unwary' out on tape for the first time, and is the follow up to 'Woodsmoke' (GON120) and 'Fabled Lore & Hidden Stream' (GON112). It includes lyrics and drawings made by the artist to accompany the music, and also contains two alternate versions of older material as bonus tracks.

A dreamy, beguiling, nostalgic dungeon synth quest through the shires. But, it's so much more than that. The LP incorporates some unique key changes, field recordings and a lot of Mort Garson style synth work. It sometimes reminds me of old 70's PG horror soundtracks. I love the mix of quiet melancholy and soaring wonder here. Listening makes me feel like I am looking up at the night sky on another world, watching impossible boreal colors dance along the horizon while tall trees sway in the keening wind, and gray-cloaked figures add their own long-dead voices to the joyful lament. My favorite out of the three I believe.The sound is more aggressive and fits the cover art of what looks like a perilous journey for the protagonist. Fits well at being the second in the trilogy of albums. Every song is good and the cassette tape and package is of good quality. A Great buy that deserves a vinyl edition. Joshua Laleina
